Are Men or Women More Prone To Getting Addicted to Drugs Easily?
November 1, 2009 | Leave a Comment
It is a common observation that men are more likely to acquire drug addiction as compared to women. The most possible reason of this is that men mostly hang out with their friends and may adopt drug addiction from the bad boys of the group. They need to take drugs for being superior in their fellows and so that they may not lag behind them. It has been seen that males are more apt to get into bad companies rather than females even when they are in schools. Moreover, the commonly known way to deal with their stress or other mental conditions is to feed on drugs. The men who are addicted to drugs also suffer other diseases including anxiety, depression and sexually transmitted diseases.
Also, males who live in bad neighbourhoods happen to encounter a lot of drug addicts; hence, they become curious and want to try it once, which eventually results in drug addiction on their part. Most of the drugs are distributed and sold through the male members of a society.
They make a lot of money by selling and distributing drugs. They also make considerable profits out of these drugs, but for that they need to know all about drugs. Most of the men adopt this as a source of earning money for keeping their families.
Some boys come from rich families and are not popular in their high school or colleges; as a result, they get depressed and start to use drugs like cocaine (also known as the businessman drug) because it is famous for being expensive, and not everyone can afford to use it.
People also use it for spending time or for relieving their grief. Its use refers to the social standing of the guys. Its use is different in different people. Married people mostly use it to get away from the tensions of their marital life. Some use it for dealing with the depression of unemployment. There are others who depend on it for coping with the grief of broken relations. So, conditions are different, but the effect of the drugs is the same.
It has been noticed that women are less prone to take drugs than men. It can be stated in other words that the items of addiction amongst men and women are fairly different. Women are seen to be more addicts to items like sweets, foods, love, coffee and caffeine. On the other hand, men are more adventurous and have different temptations.
The food items, caffeine and coffee are things to which women are mostly addicted. It is a common observation that women are more inclined towards eating when they are suffering from anxiety or stress. This leads to weight gain. They also smoke for keeping their attention diverted from eating, in order to lose weight.
Some studies reveal that females are more prone to being addicted to drugs. But, they only get addicted if they are in an abusive relationship, or if they are in a career related to drug usage (prostitutes, strippers, etc.). Taking drugs may be a way for them to release their pain, and feeling better.
