Organizing a theme costume party and still confused over the theme? No need to panic, choose form n-number of themes on the internet or on costumes chops. Angels and demons, the ancient times, current events, renaissance period and even politics are popular these days! Each theme has to se decided wisely as they do not fit every season and time. It totally depends upon you and your imagination as to what theme you decide!

You should always plan everything as per the time and season. A Hawaiian theme costume party cannot be organized in the middle of winters nor can the Halloween costume party be organized in the month of April! Also make sure that the venue is spacious enough so as to accommodate all the decorations for the selected theme and if the costumes to be donned as per the selected theme won’t make the guests feel uncomfortable. Choose the theme as per the venue or vice versa. For example, if the weather is cold, then don’t choose the theme which will make people go for the men’s costume or women’s costume not covering much skin.

If the theme party is for children, the theme should be selected as per the age group. Animal costumes, superheroes, cartoon characters etc will be perfect for children as costumes. The elderly adults or teens would surely want to wear the costumes which will show of some skin or show their personality. They can guise themselves as celebrates, their favorite and least favorite professors, priests, prostitutes and pirates.

For the invitations, it should be sent to the guests around 4-5 weeks before the event, just so they can prepare for it and go look around for costumes. 4-5 weeks should be enough; longer than that, they might have misplaced their invitations and remember it only a few days before the party. The sending out of invitation shouldn’t be too near the date of the party, or the guests might show up unprepared and the men’s costumes might end up only as their favorite shirt and pants.

A good idea is to mention the list of costumes on the invitation card itself. This will not only make the guest choose the right costume but will also save them form wearing a wrong costume which might make them feel excluded in the party. Also if you are familiar with any of the costume shops owner, don’t forget them to mention the address of the shop and the contact information. This will enable the guests to get the costumes at one place and they will not have to hop from store to store for the right thing. They can get the costumes at discounted rates and will surely get the right costume as the shop owner will aware of the theme (you should have told him)

It is for sure that you will be expecting everyone in a costume matching with the theme of the party. So you can mention the same on the invitation card. You can also write a word of caution that whosoever will be a defaulter, will have to undergo a punishment. The punishment can also be as per the theme. For instance, if the theme is school or university, then whosoever will violate the rule will be made to write “I will never come to a costume party without any costume” or some similar stuff. If the theme is underwater, then you can soak him in water in the party.

Despite of the theme selected, try to make it fulfilled, inexpensive and memorable. Make the guests feel important by telling them that it does not matter if they were not able to get the desired costume, all that matters is their presence and is appreciated. After all, all memories will fade away leaving only the memories of the time you all spent together!
