This year The movie industry sent to screen over 350 films. Of the three hundred, some where around sixty or seventy are in the comedic genre. Here is a list of the better comedies put on screen this year.
FORGETTING SAHRAH MARSHALL: Ater suffering a tough split with long time girlfriend Sarah, a TV sitcom actress, Peter finally plans to take a vacation to the Hawaiian Islands to start anew and forget about Sarah. As one might expect, upon checking into the resort, the first thing he sees is sarah and her new man, who has it all. This movie has all the ingredients of a thoughtful romantic comedy.
HAMLET 2: Dana Marshz, formerly a small time actor, has settled into teaching the high school theater classes to uninspired high schoolers. When a building is destroyed at the school, the administration decides the useless theater coarses will be what is dropped. With a challenge now in front of him, he is on a mission to keep the school from dropping his classes by producing Hamlet 2, a sequel to the original work, which he creates.
PINEAPPLE EXPRESS: Underacheiveing pothead Dale unfortunately has just viewed a crooked police man, and a big time dealer, kill someone. He was spotted, and they know he has seen what’s gone down. Knowing they’ve seen him, he drops his joint of pineapple express, and takes off. The weed is so special, that the bad guys can. The chase is on, Dale and his pot dealer friend Saul are on the run.
STEP BROTHERS: When two 40 year olds, who still live with their single parents, will now have to live in the same bedroom because their mom and dad get married, big problems loom. Casting John Reilly and Will Ferrell in those roles, and the conditions are right for lots of laughs. This comedy looks like a must see for comedy lovers.
ZACK AND MIRI MAKE A PORNO: Rent is over due and Zack and Miri, platonic friends since childhoold, need to come up with some cash soon. The answer? That’s obvious, go into the adult entertainment industry. As you can imagine this is a perfect enviornment for a funny film.
GET SMART: Agent 86 makes a return to the big screen, and he has us right where he wants us. The classic james bond spy spoof, the shoe phone, and all the classic quotes. This is a modern day version that looks back at the antics of Maxwell Smart.
MADAGASCAR: ESCAPE 2 AFRICA: This is obviously the next in the sequence to the hugely successful movie Madagascar. The four animal heroes, Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, and Gloria the Hippo are ready to go back to the zoo in New York, from their first adventure. Instead, due to the Penguins, they now are headed to their true homeland, Africa.
ROLE MODELS: Danny (Paul Rudd) and Wheeler (William Scott) a couple of energy drink promoters, might be seeing some hard jail time after trashing the company truck. The option to get out of jail time is to work in community service for 150 hours. The problem is they will need to mentor some kids as sort of a big brother. Let the fun begin.
TROPIC THUNDER: With a star studded cast this outrageous flick is a claasic parody of popular war films. Things are going bad, so to get his crew to create a quality war film, the frantic, and abused, director Damien Cockburn into the wild jungle, and leaves them on thier own. The goal is to frightnen them so they will produce a work of genius, which hidden cameras will capture. Unbelievabley, as the director steps on an old land mine and dies, the crew is left on its own, and they are covinced everything is just an act, but the bullets flying are actually real. Written, directed, and acted in, by Ben Stiller.
